2021-2022 BOARD MEMBERS

Matt Low (III), President ​​
Matt is in charge of the OBM executive board and ensures that all club meetings and events run smoothly. ​
Brian Phan (II), President Elect
Brian is responsible for seeking engaging speakers to give presentations relevant to the field of optometry. He is the main contact between students and speakers, and serves as the bridge to the future of OBM.
Charles Ang (II), Director of Finance
Charles receives and processes all OBM finances. Charles upholds high financial standards while ensuring that meetings and events run smoothly.
Samantha Chan (III), Director of Marketing
Samantha markets OBM to both the student body and to outside vendors. She is in charge of the website as well as social media (Instagram).  ​
Jennifer Lam (II), Director of Event Planning
Jennifer ​is responsible for event logistics, such as catering, room reservations, and membership relations. She finds the space and setting for OBM meetings.
Fay Liu (II), Director of Operations
Fay is the liaison between the executive board and UC Berkeley School of Optometry. She also manages all club owned property, supplies and club on campus facilities.
TBD (I), 2024 Class Liaison
You will be responsible for taking meeting minutes. You will also promote club events to the first year class.

Winson Ong, OD, Group Advisor
Dr. Winson Ong is the Founder and owner of 2 private practices in the East Bay. He is also a Clinical Instructor here at UCBSO and teaches the Ophthalmic Optics Lab.  He consults for VSP as an Associate Optometry Director in the Credentialing Committee and a CA State Ambassador.  He is also a Principal Investigator in contact lens clinical trials and is a consultant for Alcon.  
Michelle Hoff, OD, FAAO, ABOM, FNAO, Group Advisor
Michelle J. Hoff, OD, FAAO, ABOM, FNAO became a licensed optician in 1987 and has 3 degrees from the University of California Berkeley including her degree of Doctor of Optometry. She is a native Iowa who found her way to California in 1982.

Dr. Hoff has been a staff and faculty member of Berkeley’s School of Optometry since 1990. Her area of education is Ophthalmic Optics, but has taught Clinical Examination of the Eye and been a clinical instructor in Primary Care, Binocular Vision, and the Eyewear Center. She is also a faculty advisor for UCOSA’s Suitcase Clinic and Optometry Business Management Club.

Dr. Hoff is also passionate about community service. For several years, she has been a volunteer for Project Homeless Connect as a lead vision volunteer. She is also the founder and Executive Director of Mindful Eyes Foundation, a non-profit foundation whose mission is to provide prescription eyeglasses and to help arrange vision and eye health care appointments with community eye care professionals for individuals who are otherwise unable to obtain assistance through private insurance, welfare, or other social services agencies.

Elections for the positions of President, President-Elect, Director of Operations, Director of Event Planning, Director of Marketing, and Director of Finance are elected by the end of each Spring semester.
